Role Overview
This is an academic teaching position within the School of Education, focused on inclusive and special needs education. You will deliver lectures across undergraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes, while actively shaping curriculum and learning materials. Your work directly supports the university's mission to produce skilled educators and advance inclusive practices through both teaching and research.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and update course outlines and instructional content to ensure full coverage of syllabus requirements and learning outcomes.
- Teach undergraduate, diploma, and certificate courses in special needs and inclusive education, using varied methods to accommodate diverse learners.
- Create, administer, and mark examinations and other assessments, while providing regular feedback to students and the department on progress.
- Supervise student research projects and participate in defense panels to guide successful completion of their programmes.
- Conduct applied research in special needs education, publish findings in academic journals, and present at conferences to contribute to the field.
- Pursue external funding opportunities to support research and departmental initiatives.
- Organise and oversee field studies, internships, and school attachments, including assessment of student performance during these placements.
- Monitor class attendance records to verify students meet the required four-fifths lecture attendance threshold before sitting for exams.
- Take part in departmental and university meetings, committees, and administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Special Needs Education, with a focus on Inclusive Education, from a recognised institution.
- A Bachelor of Education degree, specialising in Special Needs Education with an emphasis on inclusive practices.
- At least two years of lecturing or teaching experience at the university level.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body for educators or special needs specialists.
