THE ROLE PURPOSE

To provide strategic leadership and direction in driving the growth, profitability, and market positioning of the Treasury Sales franchise in Kenya. The role is responsible for overseeing and integrating Treasury Sales activities across Corporate, SME, Retail, Public Sector, and Financial Institutions segments, while advancing the digital sales agenda through e-trading and electronic distribution platforms. The position ensures alignment with the Group Treasury Strategy, ARRP Group objectives, and governance standards to deliver sustainable revenue growth, enhanced market penetration, and a superior client experience across both traditional and digital channels.

the KEY responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership – Sales, Origination & E-Sales

  • Define and execute an integrated Treasury Sales, Origination, and E‑Sales strategy for Kenya, aligned to overall Treasury Strategy, ARRP, and regional growth priorities.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion across both traditional and digital channels.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to sales teams across Corporate, SME, Retail, Public Sector, Financial Institutions, and Digital segments, ensuring coordinated coverage and optimal client penetration.
  • Lead the digital sales agenda, driving adoption and scale‑up of e‑trading platforms (e.g., EazzyFX) across all client segments, and embedding digital platforms as the primary mode of execution where appropriate.
  • Champion the end‑to‑end digital client journey, including integration of digital wallet solutions and seamless migration of targeted clients from voice/chat channels to structured, scalable platforms.
  • Partner with Technology, Payments, and Product teams to continuously enhance digital capabilities, client experience, and innovation in Treasury solutions.
  • Strengthen and deepen client relationships across all segments, delivering tailored, solution‑driven offerings that meet evolving client needs.
  • Identify and drive cross‑border Treasury opportunities across Africa, leveraging the Group network to grow regional flows and client wallet share.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with multinational corporates, institutional investors, regional champions, financial institutions, and public sector entities.
  • Champion a client‑centric culture, ensuring delivery of solutions that enhance convenience, accessibility, and overall client experience.

Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements across all applicable jurisdictions, maintaining adherence to local and cross‑border regulatory standards.
  • Uphold robust market conduct, operational risk, and credit risk management practices, ensuring integrity and discipline in all Treasury Sales activities.
  • Enforce adherence to established governance frameworks, including Product Programs/Notes, policies, limits, delegated authorities, and ethical guidelines.
  • Foster a strong risk and compliance culture, ensuring internal controls and regulatory obligations are embedded as a core focus across all business activities and markets.
  • Demonstrate and promote exemplary conduct and leadership behaviours, consistently aligned with the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal accountability for maintaining the highest standards of ethical, regulatory, and business conduct across the Treasury Sales franchise.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance issues, working in close collaboration with Treasury Risk & Controls and other relevant control functions.

Talent Management

  • Develop and strengthen talent capability, including mentoring junior staff, building internal expertise in commodities structuring, and delivering targeted training.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing, diverse talent pipeline, aligned to Group values, code of conduct, and defined performance and inclusion KPIs.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DELIVERABLES  

  • Deliver annual and quarterly revenue targets across Corporate, SME, Retail, Public Sector, FI, and digital platforms (E‑Sales).
  • Drive market share expansion through traditional and digital sales initiatives aligned with Treasury Strategy and ARRP.
  • Increase adoption, activity, and profitability of digital trading platforms and wallet solutions.
  • Strengthen client relationships and deliver tailored solutions to clients.
  • Maintain governance compliance across products, pricing, credit processes, and execution standards.
  • Build and develop high‑performing sales and E-Sales teams with strong succession pipelines.
  • Produce high‑quality sales performance reports, pipeline tracking, pricing reviews, risk reports, and market insights.
  • Ensure the successful rollout of new digital products, platform enhancements, and technology‑led client solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement across the footprint to ensure consistent Treasury and Sales Strategy deployment.

  • Advanced knowledge of digital sales platforms, e‑trading, APIs, and platform integration, driving digital Treasury transformation.
  • Proven capability in pricing, financial analysis, modelling, and balance sheet‑linked sales strategies.
  • Excellent commercial, negotiation, and influencing skills, with strong understanding of African markets, regulatory environments, and cross‑border flows.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  

  • 12–15 years’ experience in financial services/Treasury, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record in driving sales growth across Corporate, SME, Retail, and Financial Institutions segments.
  • Demonstrated experience in digital sales, e‑trading platforms, or fintech‑enabled execution models.
  • Strong exposure to African markets, cross‑border business, and managing complex stakeholder relationships and senior client engagements.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Professional certification (CFA, FRM, ACCA, CA) strongly preferred.
  • ACI Dealing Certificate — mandatory requirement.
  • Certifications in digital innovation, fintech, product management, or data analytics are an added advantage
