Job Description

Role Overview

This role centers on directing daily airside ramp operations to guarantee safe, punctual, and well-executed aircraft turnarounds. You will coordinate ground crews, allocate equipment, and enforce critical safety protocols to minimise delays and prevent incidents like foreign object debris or vehicle collisions. Your decisions directly influence operational efficiency while ensuring every manoeuvre complies with aviation regulations and the organisation’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct all ramp activities during aircraft arrivals and departures, including marshalling, loading and unloading, and ground support equipment (GSE) movement.
  • Schedule and assign ramp staff across shifts to match flight volumes, adjusting resources in real time to maintain productivity and meet turnaround deadlines.
  • Conduct regular inspections of safety- and quality-critical tasks, verifying that team actions align with company procedures and national aviation regulations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by briefing personnel on operational hazards, ramp best practices, and regulatory updates, and by encouraging immediate hazard reporting.
  • Identify and mitigate risks such as aircraft damage and FOD incidents, and ensure all accidents or near-misses are formally documented, investigated, and resolved.
  • Enforce compliance with organisational policies, local operating manuals, and civil aviation rules, intervening or escalating when deviations are observed.
  • Manage the safe use and maintenance of GSE, ensuring operators have current training and equipment is in good working order before use.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ramp-related issues during shifts, resolving conflicts, coordinating with flight dispatchers, and reporting operational metrics to the station manager.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (O-Level or similar) is mandatory.
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued within the last six months.
  • Minimum two years of hands-on experience in aviation, specifically within ramp operations at a similar supervisory or senior operator level.
  • Demonstrated understanding of aviation safety standards, ramp procedures, and relevant civil aviation regulations.
  • Proven leadership ability to manage teams, communicate clearly under time pressure, and coordinate multiple moving pieces simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of making sound decisions in fast-paced, safety-critical environments.
  • High ethical standards, attention to detail, and a professional demeanour that reinforces reliability and trustworthiness.
