Role Overview

As the Club's Golf Professional, you are the visible face of the golf operation, working directly with members and guests on the range, on the course and around the shop to help every player improve and enjoy the game more. Day to day, you blend hands-on coaching and club fitting with the administrative backbone of club golf — handicaps, competition entries, scoring and the delivery of a well-run professional service. The role matters because the quality of the coaching, the fairness of the competition programme and the standard of the professional services shape member satisfaction, retention and the long-term growth of golf at the Club.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individual lessons, group clinics, on-course playing lessons and swing-improvement sessions for members and guests across a wide range of ages and abilities.
• Design and run junior golf and beginner programmes, building structured pathways that move participants from introductory sessions into regular play and competition.
• Administer the Club's handicapping under the World Handicap System, including score entry, reviews, adjustments and responding to member queries on handicap matters.
• Prepare, coordinate and officiate Club competitions — managing entry and registration, starting, scoring, results publication and the consistent application of the Rules of Golf.
• Provide club fitting, equipment advice and product guidance, drawing on current equipment technology to match players with the right clubs and specifications.
• Oversee the professional golf services operation, including golf-related retail, member support and the day-to-day standards of the professional shop.
• Contribute to the planning, promotion and growth of the Club's golf programme, identifying participation initiatives and player-development opportunities.
• Liaise with Club management, committees and other departments to align coaching, competition and programme activity with the Club's wider golf objectives.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Sports Management, Sports Science, Physical Education, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related discipline. A recognised professional golf qualification combined with substantial relevant experience may be accepted in place of the academic requirement.
• A recognised professional golf qualification or accreditation, such as PGA accreditation or an equivalent credential.
• Membership in good standing of a recognised professional golf body, where applicable.
• Minimum of 7 years' relevant professional golf or golf-coaching experience, including time spent in a professional or Club golf environment.
• Advanced knowledge of golf coaching, instructional technique and player development, with the ability to adapt teaching to different skill levels and learning styles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the applicable Rules of Golf and competition procedures.
• Sound working knowledge of the World Handicap System and handicap administration processes.
• Knowledge of golf equipment, equipment selection, club fitting and relevant equipment technology.
• Familiarity with the design and delivery of golf clinics, junior golf programmes and participation initiatives.
• Understanding of professional golf services, member support and golf-related retail operations.
• Knowledge of golf competition preparation, registration, scoring and associated procedures.
