Your contribution will help shape the department's curriculum and ensure graduates leave with a strong theoretical and practical grounding in educational psychology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lectures and tutorials in areas such as learning theories, child and adolescent development, motivation, assessment, and inclusive education.
  • Design, update, and evaluate course materials, reading lists, assessments, and marking rubrics to ensure alignment with learning outcomes and current research.
  • Supervise and advise undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects, dissertations, or theses, providing constructive feedback throughout the research process.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative scholarly research, aiming to publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
  • Support student academic development through office hours, one-to-one consultations, and targeted guidance on study skills, research methods, and career pathways.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, quality assurance processes, and committees related to teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the broader academic community by reviewing manuscripts, serving on examination panels, and engaging with professional bodies in educational psychology.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A completed PhD in Educational Psychology, or a closely related discipline such as developmental psychology, counselling psychology, or special educational needs, awarded by a recognised university.
  • Candidates with a relevant Master’s degree who are currently registered for a PhD and making satisfactory progress will be considered.
  • A minimum of three years of university-level teaching or research experience, ideally within educational psychology or a related field, is an added advantage.
  • Evidence of research output, such as peer-reviewed publications in recognised journals, or clear potential to produce high-quality academic research.
  • Membership in relevant professional and academic bodies, such as psychological associations or educational research societies, is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a university department.
