Role Overview
This position places you at the centre of daily executive operations, moving senior leaders safely and efficiently between offices, meetings, airports, and out-of-town engagements across Kenya. Based in Upper Hill, Nairobi, you will report to the Executive Assistant and Operations Manager, acting as a trusted transport professional who keeps schedules on track while protecting the confidentiality of everything discussed in the vehicle. Your reliability directly supports the smooth functioning of a busy corporate office, whether you are navigating city traffic or completing multi-day county assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, safe transport for executives, visiting dignitaries, and senior staff to meetings, official functions, and airport transfers, adapting to changing schedules at short notice.
- Plan and adjust routes using live traffic awareness to beat Nairobi congestion and reach destinations across major economic hubs without unnecessary delays.
- Handle long-distance trips to various counties in Kenya, maintaining sensible speeds, planning rest breaks, and ensuring the vehicle and passengers remain comfortable throughout the journey.
- Preserve strict confidentiality regarding executive conversations, travel plans, and any corporate documents carried during transit, both inside and outside the vehicle.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections covering oil, coolant, tyre pressure, brakes, lights, and electrical systems, flagging faults before they become problems.
- Keep accurate vehicle logbooks with mileage, fuel purchases, trip routes, and service history, and alert management immediately to any mechanical defects, accidents, or traffic incidents.
- Maintain the vehicle to a high standard through regular cleaning, scheduled servicing, and timely renewal of insurance, inspection certificates, and road licences.
- Apply defensive driving techniques in all weather and traffic conditions, consistently prioritising passenger safety and full compliance with Kenyan road traffic laws.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of verifiable professional driving experience, including at least 5 years transporting C-suite executives, senior managers, or VIPs within a corporate, diplomatic, or international NGO environment.
- Valid, clean Kenyan driving licence covering classes A, B, C, and E, with no history of serious traffic violations.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
- Thorough knowledge of Nairobi road networks, Upper Hill access routes, all major airports, and key Kenyan highways for long-distance county travel.
- Strong basic mechanical awareness to identify and troubleshoot minor vehicle faults while on the road.
- Professional presentation with excellent personal hygiene, courteous communication, and a calm demeanour under pressure.
- Demonstrated discretion and high ethical standards when handling sensitive executive information.
- Applicants should reside within or near Nairobi for easy access to the Upper Hill worksite.
