Job Description

Role Overview

This is a field-based sales position focused on getting our educational books and learning materials into the hands of students and institutions across a dedicated territory. You will be the face of our catalogue to schools, bookshops, and distributors, turning daily visits and product demos into lasting partnerships and measurable revenue growth. Your efforts directly influence how many classrooms adopt our resources and how deeply our brand is embedded in the regional education sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect, pitch, and close sales of educational books and learning resources to primary and secondary schools, bookshops, and institutional buyers within your assigned region.
  • Map out the territory to identify untapped accounts, decision-makers, and recurring purchasing cycles, then convert those insights into a structured sales pipeline.
  • Nurture long-term relationships with school heads, department leads, librarians, procurement personnel, and retail bookshop owners through regular in-person visits and follow-up communication.
  • Deliver compelling product presentations and sample demonstrations that highlight how the company's titles align with curriculum needs and classroom realities.
  • Own the full sales cycle from initial contact and order negotiation through to confirmation, delivery coordination, and post-sale support.
  • Track market trends, competitor pricing, and customer preferences, then feed that intelligence back to the broader team to shape future editions and campaigns.
  • Represent the company at educational exhibitions, book fairs, teacher workshops, and product launch events, actively generating leads on the spot.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, visit outcomes, order pipelines, and sales performance, submitting concise reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, Education, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least two years of proven field sales experience, ideally within educational publishing, FMCG, or another sector involving direct account management and route-based selling.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell to schools or other institutional buyers, including familiarity with procurement processes and budget cycles, is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to present to groups of teachers, administrators, and senior executives alike.
  • Strong planning and self-discipline, particularly when managing a large territory with multiple daily appointments and travel demands.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, while still aligning tightly with regional sales targets and reporting deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the assigned region, often for full days and occasional overnight trips as required by client meetings or events.
  • A genuine interest in education and a professional manner that builds trust with educators and business partners from the first interaction.
