Role Overview
This position is central to expanding our footprint in the educational sector. You will represent our catalogue of textbooks and learning materials across schools, bookshops, distributors, and public institutions in a defined territory, turning everyday conversations with educators and procurement teams into lasting commercial relationships. Beyond hitting sales numbers, you will serve as the bridge between classrooms and our publishing team, feeding back what teachers and administrators genuinely need from educational content.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a territory sales plan that targets new accounts while growing revenue from existing clients in the education and retail book markets.
- Visit schools, bookshops, and district procurement offices to present our titles, explain their curriculum fit, and negotiate orders face-to-face.
- Proactively identify untapped customer segments — including private academies, training institutions, and library suppliers — and convert them into regular buyers.
- Maintain a rolling pipeline of opportunities and follow through on quotes, tenders, and bulk purchase inquiries until they become confirmed orders.
- Coordinate with internal logistics and customer service teams to ensure every order is delivered on schedule and any issues are resolved quickly.
- Run product demonstrations, in-store promotions, and exhibition booths to showcase new releases and seasonal campaigns.
- Track competitor pricing, promotional tactics, and curricula changes in your region, reporting these insights back to management.
- Keep precise daily activity records and submit clear weekly sales performance summaries, highlighting wins, risks, and suggested next actions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, Education, or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of field sales experience, ideally within educational publishing, FMCG, or any sector that involves institutional or B2B selling.
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets through proactive territory management and consistent follow-up.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with comfort speaking to head teachers, purchasing officers, and bookshop managers alike.
- Self-driven and organised — you can plan travel routes, manage multiple accounts, and work independently without close supervision.
- Basic proficiency with spreadsheets or CRM tools for tracking sales activity and reporting results.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the assigned region, often spending several days per week on the road.
