Role Overview
This position focuses on building a steady pipeline of promising business prospects for a growing company in Nairobi. You will spend your days researching organisations, reaching out to decision-makers through multiple channels, and carefully nurturing relationships until they are ready for a formal sales conversation. Your work directly fuels the company’s expansion by ensuring the sales team always has a steady stream of qualified opportunities to pursue, making your consistency and follow-through essential to the wider commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and research prospective clients through online databases, industry networks, social platforms, and business directories to build a targeted lead list.
- Make initial contact with potential customers via phone calls, emails, and professional messaging, introducing the company’s value proposition clearly and confidently.
- Qualify leads by assessing their needs, budget, authority, and timeline, then prioritising them according to their likelihood of converting.
- Maintain precise, up-to-date records of every prospect, conversation, and next step in the company’s CRM or lead tracking system.
- Work with the sales and marketing teams to sharpen targeting criteria, refine outreach scripts, and test new engagement tactics.
- Schedule meetings or warm introductions between qualified prospects and the business owners or senior sales staff, ensuring smooth handovers.
- Follow up with prospects consistently at the right intervals to keep momentum and move them through each stage of the sales pipeline.
- Track your performance against lead generation targets and provide regular, clear reports on pipeline activity, conversion trends, and areas for improvement.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 2–3 years of practical experience in sales prospecting, outbound lead generation, or pipeline development, ideally in a B2B or relationship-driven setting.
- Hands-on proficiency with CRM software or similar lead management tools, plus comfortable, working knowledge of email, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage business owners and senior professionals without being pushy.
- Strong research and analytical ability to spot valuable market segments, filter out weak prospects, and decide where to focus your time.
- A self-driven work style that keeps you productive and accountable whether you are in the office or working from home.
- A consistent track record of meeting or exceeding lead generation or sales targets in previous roles.
- Solid understanding of business development, networking, and core sales principles; experience in financial services, consulting, or business advisory is a plus.
- A diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
