Role Overview
This is an entry-level nursing position within a public health facility, designed as a training grade for newly enrolled practitioners. Working under the close supervision of a senior officer, you will deliver hands-on patient care, from initial assessment through treatment, discharge, and follow-up in the community. The role is central to ensuring that patients and clients receive consistent, safe, and compassionate nursing services while you build practical competence across a range of clinical duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out thorough assessments of patients and clients to identify their immediate and ongoing healthcare needs.
- Develop and put into action nursing care plans that respond directly to each patient's condition and treatment goals.
- Deliver core health services such as immunisation, antenatal care, assisted deliveries, and timely referrals for specialised care.
- Monitor treatment outcomes, document patient progress, and prepare individualised reports on care provided.
- Plan safe and well-coordinated discharges, including arranging follow-up appointments and continuity of care after leaving the facility.
- Conduct school health assessments to identify health issues among learners and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Maintain accurate patient records covering personal details, medical history, and current health status, while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
- Keep the clinical environment clean, orderly, and safe, and take responsibility for securing in-patients' belongings during their stay.
- Carry out home visits to check on discharged patients, support their recovery, and manage minor ailments as part of routine care.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Hold a Certificate in any one of the following disciplines from a recognised training institution: Kenya Enrolled Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Midwife, Kenya Enrolled Psychiatric Nurse, or Enrolled Nurse/Midwife.
- Possess an Enrolment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Provide a valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Demonstrate computer application skills through a certificate from a recognised institution.
- Be prepared to work under senior guidance and follow established clinical protocols and reporting procedures.

This role provides a structured entry point into public-sector nursing, with a competitive monthly salary on the CPSB 12 scale ranging from Kshs. 23,700 to Kshs. 31,450.
