Role Overview

We are looking for a diligent and technically proficient Electrical Technician to manage the electrical infrastructure and machinery at our Mara River site. This role is essential for maintaining seamless operations, requiring a specialist who can handle everything from complex control system installations to emergency fault diagnosis. You will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical equipment—including generators and pumps—operates at peak efficiency while adhering to the highest safety standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who can work independently in a field environment to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.

Functional Responsibilities

Installation & System Integration

• Execute the installation of electrical wiring, control panels, and equipment according to technical schematics and safety codes.

• Assist in the successful commissioning of new machinery, ensuring all systems are integrated correctly into the existing power grid.

• Interpret and maintain up-to-date electrical drawings and technical manuals for the facility.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine inspections and repairs on motors, switches, relays, and circuit breakers to prevent operational failures.

• Utilize advanced testing equipment to diagnose electrical faults and identify root causes of equipment malfunction.

• Implement a rigorous preventive maintenance schedule to identify potential issues before they lead to system breakdowns.

• Respond rapidly to site emergencies and electrical failures, troubleshooting under pressure to restore normal operations.

Compliance & Resource Management

• Maintain meticulous logs of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for audit and performance tracking.

• Monitor the inventory of electrical spare parts and report replenishment needs to avoid delays during repairs.

• Ensure 100% adherence to electrical safety protocols and the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Prepare detailed reports on recurring technical issues and recommend long-term corrective actions to management.

Requirements & Competencies

Professional Background

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, with a preference for those who have worked in industrial or field-based environments.

• Technical Knowledge: Proven experience with generators, water pumps, and control panels is a significant advantage.
