Job Description

Role Overview

This position keeps fuel storage, transfer, and distribution systems operating safely and reliably. The technician spends most days diagnosing mechanical faults, repairing piping and fuel-handling components, and completing scheduled maintenance so that fueling operations are not interrupted. The work matters because fuel system failures can create environmental risks, safety hazards, and operational delays that affect the entire site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot fuel tanks, pipelines, pumps, strainers, valves, and filtration systems to keep them functioning within required standards.
  • Inspect and test fuel systems for leaks, pressure problems, worn parts, or other defects, then identify and carry out corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Complete preventive and predictive maintenance on fueling equipment so it continues to meet military, government, and contract compliance expectations.
  • Perform pipefitting, welding, assembly, and disassembly work when repairing or replacing fuel system components, following manufacturer specifications.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to diagnose complex fuel system issues and select the right repair method.
  • Operate specialized fuel-handling tools and equipment, including pumps, meters, gauges, valves, and general mechanical, hydraulic, and plumbing tools.
  • Handle, move, and dispose of fuel and fuel-related waste according to environmental regulations and hazardous-material rules.
  • Document inspections, repairs, and services in maintenance logs and reports, and assist with developing inspection and maintenance procedures and checklists.
  • Follow all PPE, hazard-control, and occupational safety requirements, report workplace hazards promptly, and work toward a zero-injury environment.
  • Coordinate with other maintenance personnel and support active fueling operations by confirming systems are ready and operational demands are met.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience maintaining, repairing, and operating fuel systems and related mechanical components.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in mechanical systems, fuel operations, or plumbing are strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair fuel storage, transfer, and distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of fuel system components such as pumps, valves, storage tanks, filtration systems, and associated piping.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards for handling flammable and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to read and apply technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints for mechanical and fuel systems.
  • Proficiency with pressure gauges, fuel pump systems, and testing devices used during system inspections.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete and maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least one year of validity remaining at the time of hire.
  • Must be able to travel internationally and obtain country-specific visas according to the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials and authorization.
  • Must read, speak, and comprehend English well enough to perform contract requirements and follow installation emergency procedures.
  • Must successfully pass contract medical requirements and remain medically compliant for the duration of deployment.
  • Must comply with all applicable occupational safety and health standards, use PPE properly, report hazards proactively, and follow safety protocols at all times.
