Job Description

Role Overview

You will take command of flights on a specific aircraft type, operating routes that extend beyond Kenya’s borders. Day to day, you are responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of each flight, from pre‑flight briefing to post‑flight reporting, while managing cockpit resources and supervising a crew. This role is critical to maintaining on‑time performance and regulatory compliance across the company’s regional and international network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough pre‑flight planning, including weather analysis, fuel calculations, and route assessment.
  • Command the aircraft during all phases of flight, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and air traffic control instructions.
  • Manage the cockpit crew, delegate tasks, and maintain effective communication throughout the flight.
  • Perform pre‑flight and post‑flight inspections, and promptly report any mechanical or operational discrepancies.
  • Monitor aircraft systems, fuel status, and navigational performance, making real‑time decisions to maintain safety.
  • Complete all required flight documentation, including technical logs, journey reports, and crew‑coordination records.
  • Operate at outstation bases as rostered, which may require extended periods away from the home base.
  • Participate in simulator‑based recurrent training and emergency‑procedures drills to stay current and proficient.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Valid ICAO Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), with a copy attached.
  • Valid Multi‑Engine Instrument Rating, with the last three pages of your logbook attached.
  • Minimum 3,000 hours total flight time.
  • Minimum 500 hours as Pilot‑in‑Command on the specific aircraft type.
  • Minimum 1,000 hours on type.
  • Must be current on the type (currency verified by recent line flying or simulator checks).
  • Willingness to operate at outstation bases outside Kenya on a rotational or long‑term basis.
  • Class 1 medical certificate, English language proficiency (ICAO Level 4 or higher), and no history of serious licence action.
