The Act is the primary legal reference for management of political parties in accordance with Articles 91 and 92 of the Constitution, which envisages well governed political parties that respect internal democracy and their constitutional status in the Kenyan political system. Job Description

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) is established under the Constitution of Kenya and mandated to register, regulate, and administer the Political Parties Fund. We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as County Monitors.

As a County Monitor, you will play a critical role in ensuring political parties operate within the legal framework of the Constitution, the Political Parties Act, and the Code of Conduct for Political Parties. You will work at the county level, liaising with government agencies, supporting political parties, and preparing monitoring reports.

This is a full-time role with deployment across various counties in Kenya. Successful candidates must reside in the county where they wish to serve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Laws, Public Administration, Education, Political Science, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Certificate in Computer Applications
  • Kenyan citizenship
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills
  • Willingness to work anywhere within Kenya
  • Must be a resident of the county of deployment
  • Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution

Responsibilities

  • Monitor political party activities to ensure compliance with the Constitution, the Political Parties Act, the Code of Conduct for Political Parties, and other relevant laws within the county of deployment
  • Liaise with relevant government agencies on the implementation of the Code of Conduct for Political Parties at the county level
  • Provide training and sensitization support to political parties at the county level
  • Collaborate with the registration department on verified political party membership lists
  • Verify the membership status of aspirants
  • Supervise constituency monitors and consolidate monitoring reports from constituencies
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on county-level monitoring activities
