Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to handle end-to-end furniture production and woodwork projects in a professional workshop setting. The role includes interpreting technical drawings, selecting materials, cutting and assembling wood components, and applying finishing techniques to produce high-quality products. You will also be responsible for machine operation, maintenance, repairs, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced, and capable of delivering precise and durable craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Interpretation & Planning
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately
- Select suitable wood types and materials based on project requirements
Production & Assembly
- Measure, mark, cut, and shape wood using hand and power tools
- Assemble components using joints, screws, adhesives, and other methods
- Construct furniture and woodwork items to required specifications
Finishing & Quality Control
- Sand, polish, varnish, paint, or stain wood surfaces for high-quality finishes
- Inspect work at different stages to ensure quality and compliance with standards
Machine Operation & Maintenance
- Operate woodworking machinery safely and efficiently
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues
Repairs & Workshop Management
- Repair and refurbish damaged furniture
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
Collaboration & Communication
- Work with designers, supervisors, and team members to meet deadlines
- Ensure client requirements and expectations are met
Key Requirements:
- Diploma or vocational training in Carpentry, Woodwork, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in furniture making
- Strong knowledge of wood types, joints, and finishing techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Skilled in using carpentry tools and machinery
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
