Role Overview
This role places you in charge of the Enterprise Banking portfolio for a designated region, where you will set the commercial direction and lead a team of Business Bankers to acquire, retain, and expand client relationships. Day to day, you will balance strategic planning with hands-on management: reviewing credit proposals, coaching relationship managers, tracking sales pipelines, and coordinating with branch and head office partners to push regional growth. Your leadership directly shapes market share, revenue performance, and the bank’s reputation as a trusted partner for established businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and formally appraise Business Banking managers and relationship staff, promoting a high-performance culture with clear accountability and professional development opportunities.
- Own the regional business plan, translating revenue targets, market-share goals, and profitability objectives into concrete actions and individual sales targets.
- Drive new client acquisition and portfolio expansion through targeted business development initiatives, cross-selling of banking products, and structured relationship management.
- Evaluate and manage credit risk across the portfolio, supporting team members in structuring proposals, adhering to credit policies, and maintaining asset quality.
- Oversee sales activity, pipeline health, and forecasting, using management information to identify gaps and adjust strategies quickly.
- Act as the bridge between field teams and central functions, ensuring smooth execution of campaigns, product rollouts, and operational processes.
- Travel regularly across branches and client sites in the region to provide visible leadership, support complex negotiations, and build external relationships.
- Foster employee engagement, retention, and talent readiness so that the region consistently builds strong successors for key roles.
Requirements & Qualifications
- First degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, Banking, Marketing, or a related discipline.

- Proven track record of leading sales teams and achieving portfolio growth, client acquisition, and revenue results in a competitive environment.
- Demonstrated capability in credit risk assessment, relationship management, and portfolio management, including familiarity with credit policy and lending processes.
- Experience collaborating with branch networks and head office stakeholders on sales campaigns, training, pipeline development, and client engagement.
- Strong working knowledge of banking products, sales methodologies, client lifecycle management, and regulatory expectations.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels.
- Strategic thinking, sound judgment, and analytical problem-solving skills to navigate complex client and operational issues.
- Professional banking, credit, risk, or leadership certification (e.g., CPA or equivalent) is preferred.
