Role Overview
This branch leadership position is accountable for both the commercial and administrative health of an insurance branch. The holder turns business targets into everyday sales, underwriting, and service activity while guiding staff to deliver dependable results. The role matters because branch growth, customer confidence, and cost discipline depend on consistent management presence and sound insurance judgement.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct branch sales and administrative operations, ensuring work is planned, resourced, and carried out against agreed business targets.
- Grow underwritten premium and new client numbers through prospecting, networking, referrals, and active relationship management.
- Provide accurate insurance quotations and underwriting support within the branch’s authority, escalating complex risks where required.
- Keep branch expenditure under review, monitor resource use, and address inefficiencies that affect profitability.
- Supervise branch staff, including training, coaching, performance review, and day-to-day task allocation.
- Maintain service quality by handling customer enquiries, complaints, and operational problems promptly and professionally.
- Build productive links with clients, intermediaries, and local networks to strengthen the branch’s market presence.
- Promote compliance with insurance regulations, internal procedures, and expected standards of integrity, reliability, and transparency.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- ACII or AIIK professional insurance qualification.
- A marketing diploma would be an added advantage.
- Five or more years in comparable roles, with a track record of running an insurance branch successfully.
- Practical sales skills and underwriting ability, with the capacity to produce accurate quotations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in customer and operational matters.
- Confident relationship-building and networking skills for client acquisition and retention.
- Experience supervising, training, and managing staff performance.
- Solid product and insurance knowledge, supported by clear communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Fluency with IT systems used in branch operations.
- Personal credibility demonstrated through integrity, reliability, transparency, professionalism, teamwork, and a quality focus.
