Role Overview
This position provides hands-on analytical support to the investment research team, turning raw market information into clear inputs that inform portfolio decisions. Day to day, the role gathers and verifies data from market terminals, central banks and national statistics sources, builds and updates financial models, screens potential investments, and prepares early drafts of reports. The work directly helps the fund management team evaluate opportunities, monitor existing holdings, and bring investment products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull together pricing, macroeconomic releases, market news and financial statement data from Bloomberg and other trusted sources, then organise it into usable datasets and summaries for the research team.
- Check figures against primary sources such as central bank publications and national statistics offices, flagging inconsistencies, gaps or outdated information before it enters research materials.
- Build, update and maintain financial or data models that support valuation, performance tracking and comparisons between investment opportunities.
- Run initial screens that test prospective investments against agreed multiples, thresholds and other selection criteria, and document the outcomes for review.
- Prepare first drafts of investor fact sheets, research notes and other recurring or ad hoc reports requested by analysts or portfolio managers.
- Provide analytical support to the fund management team during the development, launch, distribution and ongoing enhancement of investment products.
- Capture meeting discussions accurately and turn notes into structured records showing key points, action items and deadlines.
- Work within the firm’s delegated authority matrix and take on additional research, data or reporting tasks as directed by senior investment staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, economics, statistics or another quantitative discipline.
- At least one year of formal employment experience in financial analysis, data modelling, actuarial work or a comparable analytical role.
- Exposure to stock markets, macroeconomic indicators and corporate financial statements.
- Practical financial or data modelling skills, with the ability to structure, interrogate and maintain data.
- Working knowledge of investments and financial markets.
- Strong organisational and analytical habits, including the ability to manage detail and meet deadlines.
- Clear report writing skills, with the ability to turn analysis into readable drafts for review.
- Comfort using market data platforms and official statistical sources, including Bloomberg or similar terminals.
