Role Overview
This academic appointment centers on undergraduate teaching, student assessment, and curriculum support within a university department. The successful candidate will deliver lectures and tutorials, guide students academically, and contribute to departmental administration and planning. The role is designed for an early-career scholar who is simultaneously pursuing doctoral studies, and it plays a key part in sustaining the department’s teaching standards and scholarly activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions for undergraduate courses in the relevant discipline.
- Prepare, administer, and grade examinations and other assessments in accordance with university regulations.
- Develop and refresh teaching materials, including syllabi, reading lists, and learning resources.
- Contribute to departmental and faculty strategic planning and development initiatives.
- Supervise, advise, and mentor undergraduate students on academic progress and course-related challenges.
- Participate in curriculum design, implementation, and periodic review to ensure relevance and quality.
- Attend academic seminars, workshops, and conferences, and present research or pedagogical findings as appropriate.
- Engage in departmental meetings, committees, and administrative duties supporting effective faculty governance.
- Undertake consultative, outreach, or other professional activities as assigned by the department.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in a field relevant to the department, both earned from accredited and recognized universities.
- Eligibility to register for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or an equivalent doctoral degree program.
- Current registration or demonstrable eligibility for registration with the applicable professional body, where such registration is required for the discipline.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for teaching, mentoring, and academic collaboration.
- Effective organizational abilities for managing teaching loads, assessments, and administrative responsibilities.
- A collaborative mindset and readiness to work with departmental colleagues on academic and strategic tasks.
