Job Description

Role Overview

This academic position involves designing and delivering undergraduate or graduate courses in the specified discipline, with a strong emphasis on student engagement and achievement. Day-to-day work includes preparing course materials, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student work, and providing ongoing mentorship. The role directly supports the university’s mission by ensuring curriculum remains current, rigorous, and aligned with both academic standards and evolving industry needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise course syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment tools in line with departmental requirements and university policies.
  • Deliver lectures, seminars, or tutorials using a blend of traditional and technology-enhanced teaching methods to foster active learning.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and projects, offering detailed and timely feedback to support academic growth.
  • Advise and mentor students on academic progress, career pathways, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with faculty to review and update program curricula, incorporating emerging trends and feedback from industry partners.
  • Contribute to program-level accreditation, assessment, and quality assurance processes by collecting and analysing learning outcomes data.
  • Serve on departmental or university committees, participate in faculty meetings, and engage in shared governance activities.
  • Represent the university through community outreach, professional service, or involvement in disciplinary associations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in the relevant field from an accredited institution, or a Master’s degree along with at least two years of documented university-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly research and peer-reviewed publications appropriate to career stage.
  • Proven ability to use Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle) and digital tools for course delivery and assessment.
  • Strong command of the subject matter, with the capacity to design coherent, high-quality learning experiences across multiple modalities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give constructive feedback and facilitate inclusive discussions.
  • Effective organisational and time-management abilities, with a track record of balancing teaching, research, and service responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and fostering a respectful, multicultural learning environment.
