Role Overview
This Lecturer position sits within a TVET-registered institution and is central to delivering practical, competency-driven training to students in a specialised field. Day to day, you will prepare and deliver lessons, manage classroom and workshop environments, and assess each learner's progress against national training standards. Your work directly contributes to producing job-ready graduates, while also supporting the college's commitment to maintaining TVETA compliance and high-quality academic delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct engaging theoretical and practical training sessions in line with the approved curriculum and national TVET guidelines.
- Design and administer assessments, including written tests, practical evaluations, and competency-based tasks, ensuring fair and accurate grading.
- Develop instructional materials, lesson plans, and assessment tools that reflect current industry practices and emerging skill demands.
- Monitor student attendance, academic performance, and skill acquisition, providing timely support and corrective guidance where needed.
- Supervise learners during practical workshops, industrial attachments, and project-based assignments, giving regular feedback on performance.
- Contribute to curriculum reviews, departmental meetings, and quality assurance activities to improve training outcomes.
- Enforce safety protocols in workshops and laboratories, ensuring all equipment is handled correctly and well maintained.
- Mentor students on professional conduct, workplace expectations, and career development pathways relevant to their chosen industry.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A valid TVETA Trainer License in the relevant area of specialisation is a mandatory requirement.
- Relevant academic and professional certificates in the area of teaching, demonstrating sufficient subject-matter depth.
- Hands-on industry experience in the relevant field, providing practical insight that enriches classroom and workshop instruction.
- Prior teaching or training experience in a TVET environment is a strong added advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside the ability to work with diverse learner groups.
- Familiarity with competency-based education and training (CBET) approaches and learner-centred facilitation techniques.
