Role Overview

This academic position sits within a university department and centres on delivering high-quality teaching, advancing a personal research agenda, and supporting student development. Day to day, you will lecture and run practical sessions across assigned courses, refine learning materials, and actively contribute to curriculum design while progressing your own doctoral research. Your work directly supports the university's teaching quality, research output, and student success goals, and you are expected to operate as both an educator and a mentor.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions for courses assigned by the Head of Department, maintaining consistently high teaching standards.
• Develop and plan new or existing modules and programmes of study, including preparing syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and supporting materials.
• Regularly review and update course content and teaching resources to keep them current, accurate, and aligned with learning outcomes.
• Work with departmental colleagues on curriculum reviews, new course development, and broader academic initiatives.
• Conduct independent and collaborative research in your field, including drafting grant proposals and seeking external research funding.
• Present findings at national and international conferences, publish outputs in recognised outlets, and pursue consultancy opportunities where relevant.
• Provide academic advice, mentorship, and career guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and support junior staff as needed.
• Undertake any additional administrative or departmental duties assigned by supervisors or outlined in the role's formal job description.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Registration for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or an equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, with demonstrable and satisfactory progress towards completion.
• A Master's degree in the relevant discipline from an accredited and recognised university.
• A Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from an accredited and recognised university.
• At least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification work experience.
• Proven experience in university-level teaching and research, evidenced by teaching evaluations, publications, or conference participation.
• Registration with, or eligibility for recognition by, the relevant professional body where applicable to the discipline.
