Veterinary Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Veterinary Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of animal health and disease control activities, ensuring the well-being of livestock and compliance with regulations. This role involves research, field work, data collection, and stakeholder training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake disease control and surveillance activities, including research and reporting
  • Administer vaccinations to prevent and control infectious diseases
  • Enforce livestock movement regulations to prevent disease spread
  • Participate in training stakeholders in vector control programs
  • Treat sick animals and provide advice on good veterinary practices
  • Collect data and prepare comprehensive reports on animal health, products, and markets
  • Advise on animal breeding practices to improve productivity and health
  • Promote animal welfare and enforce animal control measures
  • Conduct postmortem examinations and perform other diagnostic tests

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution
