We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and strategic Medical Superintendent to lead clinical and administrative operations at our busy multi-specialty regional referral health facility. The ideal candidate will combine exceptional clinical expertise with proven leadership to ensure the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Job Summary
The Medical Superintendent will provide overall strategic and operational leadership for medical services. This role oversees clinical governance, resource management, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will collaborate with department heads, administrative staff, and external stakeholders to drive clinical excellence and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership for all clinical departments and ensure alignment with the facility’s mission and strategic goals.
- Oversee clinical governance, including credentialing, peer review, clinical audits, and patient safety initiatives.
- Lead quality improvement programs and ensure adherence to national and international healthcare standards.
- Manage clinical budgets, resource allocation, and equipment procurement.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) and other relevant bodies.
- Facilitate continuous professional development for medical staff.
- Represent the facility in medical committees, boards, and external engagements.
- Coordinate disaster preparedness, infection control, and risk management programs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Academic Qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB/MBBS) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Postgraduate Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Medicine (M.Med), Public Health, Health Systems Management, or Business/Healthcare Administration is highly desirable.
- Professional Licensure: Valid, active practice license and current annual retention certificate from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of active clinical practice, with a proven track record of at least 3–5 years serving in a senior administrative role (e.g., Medical Superintendent, Deputy Medical Superintendent, or Head of Clinical Services) within a busy multi-specialty regional or secondary referral health facility.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex budgets.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and emerging trends in healthcare management.
