Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out simple treatments of animals
- Participating in disease search and reporting
- Applying external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying, and dusting
- Carrying out vaccinations
- Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, ear tagging, branding, deworming, disbudding, docking, debeaking, and hoof trimming
- Conducting ante-mortem inspection and meat inspection
- Keeping daily records of slaughter and condemnations
- Supervising slaughterhouse cleaning and sanitation
- Supervising loading of meat and issuance of certificates of transport
- Collecting data and writing technical reports
Qualifications & Requirements
- A certificate of not less than two (2) years in Animal Health, or Animal Health and Production, from a recognized institution
- Registration with the Kenya Veterinary Board
- A certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution
Additional Preference
A certificate in Environmental Health (Meat Inspection) will be an added advantage.
