Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out simple treatments of animals
  • Participating in disease search and reporting
  • Applying external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying, and dusting
  • Carrying out vaccinations
  • Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, ear tagging, branding, deworming, disbudding, docking, debeaking, and hoof trimming
  • Conducting ante-mortem inspection and meat inspection
  • Keeping daily records of slaughter and condemnations
  • Supervising slaughterhouse cleaning and sanitation
  • Supervising loading of meat and issuance of certificates of transport
  • Collecting data and writing technical reports

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A certificate of not less than two (2) years in Animal Health, or Animal Health and Production, from a recognized institution
  • Registration with the Kenya Veterinary Board
  • A certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution

Additional Preference

A certificate in Environmental Health (Meat Inspection) will be an added advantage.
