The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) invites applications from qualified, committed, and patriotic individuals for various on-need basis positions to strengthen the country’s anti-doping framework and support fair, transparent, and ethical sporting practices.

Established by the Government of Kenya through the Anti-Doping Act No. 5 of 2016, ADAK is mandated to protect athletes’ fundamental rights to participate in doping-free sport and to promote good health, fairness, and equality for all athletes. The Agency’s mission is to eliminate doping in sport in Kenya through effective education, deterrence, detection, and enforcement programs.

To enhance its operations and expand its network of professionals, ADAK seeks to recruit individuals who are passionate about sports integrity, ethical conduct, and upholding the principles of fair play. The available positions are temporary and based on the Agency’s operational needs.

About the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK)

The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) was created to ensure that Kenya aligns with international standards on anti-doping as prescribed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). 1. Doping Control Officer (35 Positions)

Overview
Doping Control Officers (DCOs) play a critical role in maintaining integrity in sports by overseeing the collection of urine and/or blood samples from athletes during both in-competition and out-of-competition testing. These officers ensure that all testing procedures adhere to WADA and ADAK regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Doping Control Officer will be responsible for:

• Conducting sample collection missions according to ADAK and WADA standards and guidelines.
• Ensuring the athlete’s rights are protected during the testing process.
• Managing chain of custody for all collected samples to guarantee their integrity and validity.
• Completing and submitting accurate Doping Control Forms and other related documentation.
• Coordinating with Chaperones and Blood Collection Officers during testing missions.
• Ensuring testing kits, materials, and equipment are properly handled and stored.
• Educating athletes and support staff about testing protocols and compliance.
• Reporting any irregularities, refusals, or violations during sample collection.
• Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Participating in refresher courses, re-certification, and ongoing professional development in doping control procedures.

2. Anti-Doping Educator (20 Positions)

Overview
Anti-Doping Educators are responsible for raising awareness and educating athletes, coaches, and sports personnel about the dangers of doping, ethical conduct in sports, and compliance with anti-doping regulations. The role is central to ADAK’s mission of prevention through education and information dissemination.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Anti-Doping Educator will be responsible for:

• Planning and conducting anti-doping education and awareness programs across various sports disciplines.
• Delivering presentations, workshops, and training sessions to athletes, coaches, and sports administrators.
• Developing and distributing educational materials in line with ADAK’s education strategy.
• Supporting the development of content for e-learning platforms and outreach campaigns.
• Liaising with sports federations, schools, and community organizations to enhance outreach efforts.
• Assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of education program effectiveness.
• Promoting anti-doping values, ethics, and the spirit of fair play in sports.
• Supporting communication and advocacy initiatives to promote clean sport culture.
• Preparing reports on education activities and maintaining updated program databases.

3. Blood Collection Officer (10 Positions)

Overview
Blood Collection Officers are responsible for collecting blood samples from athletes in accordance with the highest standards of medical and anti-doping procedures. This position requires precision, integrity, and professional medical handling of samples.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Blood Collection Officer will perform the following tasks:

• Conducting blood sample collection missions as per ADAK and WADA guidelines.
• Ensuring all blood collection procedures are safe, hygienic, and in compliance with medical standards.
• Ensuring the athlete’s comfort and consent throughout the process.
• Proper labeling, sealing, and recording of samples to maintain chain of custody.
• Coordinating with Doping Control Officers and Chaperones during missions.
• Managing collection equipment, ensuring proper disposal and inventory management.
• Reporting any incidents, anomalies, or breaches of protocol immediately.
• Maintaining confidentiality of test results and athlete information.
• Participating in ADAK training and certification programs for continuous improvement.

• Professional medical training, preferably with a nursing or laboratory background.

4. Chaperone (30 Positions)

Overview
Chaperones assist in athlete notification and escorting during doping control missions. They ensure that athletes are properly informed about testing procedures and remain under observation until the sample collection process is completed.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Chaperone will be responsible for:

• Notifying athletes selected for testing in accordance with ADAK guidelines.
• Escorting athletes to the Doping Control Station while maintaining continuous observation.
• Ensuring athletes understand their rights and responsibilities during sample collection.
• Assisting Doping Control Officers in documentation and athlete handling procedures.
• Reporting any issues, refusals, or delays during athlete escort.
• Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism throughout the assignment.
• Participating in pre-mission briefings and post-mission debriefs.
• Supporting awareness and education activities where applicable.

Terms of Engagement and Remuneration

All positions are offered on an On-Need Basis. Engagement will depend on the Agency’s operational requirements.
Payment will be made upon completion of assignments, as per the approved rates stipulated in ADAK’s Finance Policy.
