President Trump’s executive order marks a clear federal challenge to state-led AI regulation. Signed in December 2025, it directs agencies to identify and confront state AI laws deemed overly restrictive or unconstitutional. The administration argues that inconsistent state rules burden innovation and interstate commerce. The order also instructs the Justice Department to prepare legal challenges.
