Job Description

Role Overview

This position is central to shaping and delivering a rigorous academic programme in a relevant discipline. Day-to-day work involves designing course outlines, preparing both face-to-face and online learning materials, and teaching students through lectures, labs, fieldwork, and group activities. The role matters to the university because it ensures curriculum quality, drives research output, and supports student development from undergraduate through postgraduate levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and update course syllabi and lesson plans to align with programme goals
  • Prepare teaching materials for contact sessions and digital platforms, including aids for labs, field studies, and group work
  • Deliver course content using varied instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs
  • Create and implement assessment plans to measure student progress and learning outcomes
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students on academic projects, internships, and research work
  • Conduct independent research in your specialist area, publish findings in journals, books, or digital media, and pursue grant writing and collaborative projects
  • Advise students on academic, career, and other related concerns as they arise
  • Participate in departmental administrative tasks, field operations, conferences, workshops, and industry outreach visits

Requirements & Qualifications

  • PhD in a field directly relevant to the programme domain
  • Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a relevant field plus being at the final stage (data collection) of a PhD
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in the relevant industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for teaching, mentoring, and collaboration
  • Solid organisational and planning abilities to manage curriculum development, research, and administrative duties
  • Demonstrated research skills with the capacity to publish and secure funding
