Job Description

Role Overview

This role keeps AWARD’s training engine running: converting the annual workplan into courses that are actually delivered, on schedule and to standard, for fellows and partner institutions. The person in this seat moves constantly between instructional design, session logistics, trainer administration, and live platform troubleshooting, so the curriculum stays current, inclusive, and well documented. Success looks like participants completing their courses with the assessments, records, and follow-up they were promised — and trainers, partners, and internal units finding it easy to work with AWARD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Course planning and scheduling: Build and maintain the training calendar, sequence courses against the AWARD workplan, and define venue, equipment, and materials requirements early enough for operations and other units to act on them.
  • Participant communication and progress tracking: Keep learners informed about schedules, prerequisites, pre-course tasks, and deadlines, and monitor participation so that anyone falling behind is picked up quickly.
  • Curriculum and content development: Co-design modules that blend live sessions with self-paced work, embed inclusive and accessible learning practices, and draft facilitator guides, learner guides, workbooks, and session plans for in-person, virtual, and hybrid delivery — then refresh existing curricula so they stay relevant and aligned with AWARD training standards.
  • Learning technology and live event support: Administer the LMS, set up and run virtual session features such as breakout rooms, polls, waiting rooms, registration, interpretation channels, captions, and recordings, and orient trainers, staff, and participants on the tools and practices that make online delivery work.
  • Trainer and resource person administration: Support recruitment and onboarding, maintain the trainer database and expertise matrix, help allocate trainers across activities, prepare engagement budgets, draft and process contracts, service agreements, and terms of reference, track renewals and compliance, and pass payment documentation to Finance.
  • Assessment, evaluation, and reporting: Run pre- and post-course assessments and surveys, compile attendance and completion records, analyse feedback from learners and facilitators, and produce and circulate training and evaluation reports.
  • Knowledge management: Organise slides, handouts, workbooks, learning aids, and reports across physical and digital repositories and the Learning Community Portal, keeping everything accurate, consistently branded, and easy to retrieve, and flagging gaps or underused resources.
  • Stakeholder liaison: Act as the day-to-day link between AWARD, training partners, participants, and trainers — scheduling and documenting meetings, chasing action items, maintaining partner contact records, acknowledging alumni milestones, and escalating complaints or disputes to the relevant unit.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, training and development, or a closely related field.
  • At least five years of progressive experience in capacity development and the management of training programmes, preferably within an international or regional organisation.
  • Professional certification in virtual facilitation and learning technologies, or in e-learning instructional design.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical support for virtual and blended learning, including the digital tools and learner engagement techniques that keep remote participants involved.
  • Experience administering a Learning Management System.
  • Experience supporting live online events in real time, resolving technical issues as they arise.
  • Ability to manage and lead hybrid teams.
  • Working knowledge of French would add value, given the growing number of partners and participants from francophone countries.
  • Expertise in delivering training or capacity development on gender-responsive approaches in agrifood systems would be an added advantage.
