Role Overview
You will join a growing film and creative production company as a remote consulting video editor, taking charge of projects from the first raw clip to the final exported master. Your day-to-day work involves interpreting creative briefs, making sharp storytelling decisions, and delivering polished, platform-ready content without needing hand-holding. This role matters because the company depends on editors who can elevate footage into finished pieces that reflect their production quality and keep clients coming back.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit video content across a range of projects, tailoring pacing, structure, and tone to suit each platform and audience.
- Build compelling narratives by selecting the strongest shots, determining sequence order, and establishing rhythm that holds attention.
- Apply colour correction and grading to create a consistent, cinematic look that matches the creative direction.
- Clean and balance audio levels, remove unwanted noise, and mix dialogue, music, and effects for clear, professional sound.
- Add motion graphics, titles, captions, and other visual overlays that support the story without distracting from it.
- Choose and place music and sound effects that enhance emotional impact and reinforce pacing.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising deadlines and maintaining an organised post-production file structure.
- Self-review every cut before submission, then respond quickly to client or team feedback while preserving the original creative intent.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven professional experience in video editing and post-production, with a portfolio that demonstrates real storytelling ability and finished work.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or another industry-standard editing tool.
- Strong grasp of pacing, composition, colour theory, and sound design, with an eye for consistency across every frame.
- Ability to work independently, interpret creative direction, and make confident decisions about cuts, transitions, and narrative flow.
- Excellent time management and discipline to deliver high-quality work on schedule without constant supervision.
- Constructive, professional approach to receiving and implementing revision requests without losing the core concept.
- Versatility across content types—such as brand films, interviews, commercials, social media videos, or documentaries—as shown in your showreel.
- Genuine pride in the details: the right cut, the right pause, the right music cue, and a final product that feels intentional from start to finish.
What We Offer / Why Join
- KES 60,000 monthly consulting fee.
- Fully remote working arrangement with flexible autonomy over your workflow.
- A creative, professional production environment where your editorial judgement is respected.
- Opportunity to work on diverse, high-quality creative projects that stretch your skills.
- Freedom to bring your expertise to every project, from initial structure to final polish.
