TV Producer

Role Overview

As a TV Producer within the Production & Programming Department, you will own programming from the first pitch through to the final broadcast-ready master, shaping how stories are told and ensuring every segment meets the standards our audience expects. You will act as the connective tissue between creative teams, technical crews, and department leadership, keeping productions on schedule and on brief while protecting editorial quality. This role matters because the programming you shepherd is the visible output of the department — it directly shapes audience engagement, brand reputation, and the station's standing with viewers and partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop programme concepts, segment ideas, and episode formats, then refine them into clear production briefs for the wider team.
• Review scripts, running orders, and treatments for accuracy, tone, and editorial balance before they move into production.
• Plan and coordinate shoots end to end — booking crews, equipment, locations, and talent, and building schedules that hold up under tight turnaround times.
• Direct or supervise studio and field recordings, giving real-time guidance to presenters, camera operators, and floor staff.
• Manage production resources and track spend against the agreed budget for each programme, flagging variances early.
• Work closely with editors, sound technicians, and graphics teams during post-production to deliver polished, broadcast-compliant content on deadline.
• Ensure all output complies with broadcasting regulations, internal editorial guidelines, and legal standards, including rights and clearance requirements.
• Report progress to department leadership, troubleshoot production problems as they arise, and contribute to planning for upcoming programming cycles.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years' proven experience as a TV Producer or in a comparable television or media production role.
• Strong working knowledge of television production processes, tools, and technologies, from pre-production planning through studio recording and post-production delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to run a production from concept to broadcast while managing competing deadlines.
• Sound editorial judgement and a clear understanding of broadcast standards and compliance requirements.
• Confident leadership of on-set and post-production teams, with strong verbal communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to stay composed and make quick decisions in a fast-moving, live or near-live production environment.
