Role Overview

This position is designed for an active doctoral candidate who is ready to take on meaningful teaching and research responsibilities while completing their PhD. Day to day, you will deliver lectures and practical sessions, support student learning through mentoring and assessment, and steadily build a publication and grant-writing record. Your work matters to the university because it strengthens the departments teaching capacity, advances research output in the field, and supports the institution's broader mission of service to students and the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork for courses assigned by the Head of Department, ensuring content is accurate, current, and engaging.
• Assist in designing and updating curricula, independently and in collaboration with academic colleagues, to keep programs aligned with disciplinary standards and societal needs.
• Develop learning materials, assessments, and marking rubrics, and provide constructive feedback to students on their academic progress.
• Carry out original research in your discipline, prepare scholarly manuscripts, and present findings at national and international conferences or workshops.
• Actively pursue research grant opportunities and participate in consultancies and other income-generating projects that contribute to the university's strategic goals.
• Guide and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students on academic, professional, and career matters, helping them navigate their studies and future pathways.
• Participate in departmental committees, faculty meetings, examinations, and quality assurance activities as required by university policy.
• Contribute to the wider academic community through public dissemination of research findings and collaboration with internal and external partners.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Registration for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, with demonstrable and satisfactory progress toward completion.
• A Master's degree in the relevant field, obtained from an accredited and recognized university.
• A Bachelor's degree in the relevant field, obtained from an accredited and recognized university.
• A minimum of three years of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably in an academic or research environment.
• Demonstrated experience teaching at university level, including course delivery, student assessment, and curriculum development.
• A record of research activity, such as publications, conference presentations, or involvement in funded research projects.
• Registration with, or eligibility for registration with, the relevant professional body where one exists for the discipline.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities simultaneously.
