Transport Supervisor

Role Overview

This position keeps material movement and backup power running smoothly across the site. You will spend your day on an electric forklift moving, lifting and stacking goods, while also taking ownership of the diesel generator sets that supply power when the mains cannot be relied on. Because both pieces of equipment sit at the centre of daily operations, your attention to inspection routines, charging practices and early fault reporting directly protects productivity and keeps colleagues safe.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate an electric forklift to load, unload, lift, stack and relocate materials safely and efficiently.
• Carry out pre-use forklift inspections each day, checking battery condition and following the correct charging routine.
• Connect and disconnect the forklift charger strictly in line with approved procedures and electrical safety rules.
• Run diesel generator sets and monitor fuel, oil, coolant, voltage and other operating readings throughout shifts.
• Complete routine genset checks and respond to early signs of wear or performance drift before they escalate.
• Keep accurate, up-to-date logs covering forklift use, battery charging and genset operating parameters.
• Escalate equipment faults, damage, hazards and abnormal operating conditions to the right person without delay.
• Keep work areas tidy and organised, and follow every company health, safety and operational procedure.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum KCSE certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Valid forklift operator certification or licence.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in forklift operations, genset operations, or a combination of both.
• Demonstrated experience operating electric forklifts.
• Working knowledge of forklift battery charging and basic electrical safety practices.
• Foundational understanding of diesel generators and routine equipment maintenance.
• Solid communication, record-keeping and teamwork abilities.
• Genuine commitment to workplace safety and careful handling of equipment.
