Role Overview
This position sits where clinical knowledge meets commercial execution on MEDS' Access to Health (ATH) programme, a two-year initiative delivered in partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim to widen access to quality, affordable innovator brands for the prevention, treatment and management of non-communicable diseases across all 47 counties in Kenya. Reporting to the Business Development and Marketing Manager, the jobholder builds deep product expertise and carries it into hospitals, clinics and laboratories — supporting prescribers, demonstrating products in real settings, and turning technical credibility into patient enrolment. The role also safeguards that medical laboratory commodities are marketed to regulatory standards and used optimally by the healthcare providers and laboratories that rely on them.
Key Responsibilities
- Detail and promote ATH products to prescribing clinicians, using evidence-based conversations that convert clinical interest into new prescriptions.
- Partner closely with Field Officers, pairing technical product knowledge with sales technique so field teams can drive patient enrolment more effectively.
- Plan and coordinate continuing medical education sessions and training for both external customers and internal staff, maintaining a consistent, high standard of ATH product knowledge across the team.
- Travel to customer sites to run practical, real-world product demonstrations that illustrate product value and support successful sales outcomes.
- Ensure that marketing of the organisation's medical laboratory commodities complies with regulatory requirements and aligns with the organisation's positioning.
- Carry out market analysis, tracking prescriber behaviour, competitor activity and demand trends to shape marketing strategy and identify uptake opportunities.
- Support healthcare providers and laboratories to use commodities optimally, troubleshooting usage issues and reinforcing best practice.
- Gather and document customer feedback before, during and after product use, feeding structured insights back to inform product development.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant health science — Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory or a related field — together with marketing experience; or a Business degree in Marketing, Management or Administration paired with a relevant health-related diploma (Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory, Pharmacy) and marketing experience.
- Professional registration: Active registration with the relevant regulatory professional body.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in a Sales or Marketing Executive role.
- Mobility: Own vehicle and a clean driving licence with at least two years of continuous driving experience.
- Technical competencies: Business acumen, marketing skills, customer service and negotiation skills.
- Behavioural attributes: High level of integrity, strong interpersonal and communication skills, problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.
What We Offer / Why Join
- A two-year engagement on the Access to Health programme, with the possibility of extension subject to successful implementation.
- National reach — the programme operates across every county in Kenya, giving the role wide exposure to diverse healthcare providers and laboratories.
- A genuinely hybrid mandate that combines clinical product expertise with commercial strategy, delivered in partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim.
