Job Description
Role Overview
This position places you at the frontline of highway operations, where you will process toll transactions accurately and keep traffic moving smoothly through the plaza. Your primary focus is handling payments across multiple methods, resolving fare issues quickly, and providing courteous assistance to motorists. By maintaining precise cash records and spotting equipment problems early, you directly support the revenue integrity and safety of the entire roadway network.
Key Responsibilities
- Process toll payments from drivers using cash, credit or debit cards, and electronic transponder systems, ensuring every transaction is completed correctly.
- Provide guests with clear receipts, calculate change accurately, and verify that electronic pass devices are valid and properly recognized.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between the toll amount due and the payment tendered, escalating unresolvable issues to shift supervisors.
- Keep a detailed log of all transactions during your shift and perform a full cash drawer reconciliation before handover.
- Answer motorists’ questions about directions, nearby exits, service areas, and general travel conditions in a polite and professional manner.
- Monitor the toll booth for equipment faults, traffic accidents, or unusual activity, and report all incidents promptly through the proper channels.
- Follow all operational policies and safety protocols, including handling cash securely and maintaining a hazard-free workspace.
- Keep your booth clean, organized, and stocked so the next shift can begin without delays.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution is required.
- At least one year of prior experience in customer service, cashiering, or a role involving cash handling is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable with basic computer and accounting systems; prior experience using point-of-sale or electronic toll collection equipment is an advantage.
- Solid math skills with a high degree of accuracy when counting cash and calculating change.
- Excellent verbal communication and a courteous, calm demeanor when interacting with the public.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Physically capable of remaining seated or standing for extended periods and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Candidates must be between 20 and 35 years of age and able to follow all management directives consistently.
