Role Overview
As our Technical Solar Sales Executive, you will be the driving force behind new revenue for Gratia Energy Limited, taking solar and battery storage solutions directly to residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional clients across Kenya. Your week will balance outbound prospecting, on-site client meetings, and close collaboration with our engineering and commercial teams to shape proposals that are both technically sound and financially compelling. This role matters because every system you sell moves Kenya closer to energy independence while directly lowering our clients’ operating costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively hunt for new business opportunities across the solar value chain, from small residential setups to large industrial power systems.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline, keeping a rolling 3–6 month forecast that gives leadership visibility into expected revenue.
- Engage with facility managers, engineers, and business owners through networking, referrals, cold calls, presentations, and site visits to understand their energy pain points.
- Translate technical requirements into practical solar solutions, confidently discussing system sizing, kWp capacity, inverter selection, and battery storage options.
- Partner with our engineering and commercial teams to prepare detailed, winning proposals that combine accurate system design with clear financial returns.
- Lead negotiations, overcome objections, and close deals while guiding each customer from first conversation through final commissioning.
- Keep every lead, opportunity, and customer interaction accurately logged in our CRM to support follow-up and reporting.
- Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging solar technologies, then feed those insights back into our sales strategy.
- Represent Gratia Energy at trade shows, industry conferences, and business networking events to grow our brand and referral base.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Sales & Marketing, Business, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of B2B sales experience, ideally within solar, electrical, engineering, energy, construction, HVAC, or other technical solution selling.
- Comfortable discussing technical concepts with both engineers and non-technical buyers, and able to simplify complex information without losing credibility.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets through structured pipeline management and persistent follow-through.
- Strong presentation skills, with the confidence to lead client meetings, site walkthroughs, and proposal walk-throughs.
- Self-starting mentality, comfortable working independently in the field while staying aligned with the wider team.
- Experience using a CRM platform to track sales activity is a plus.
