Role Overview
Biashara Logbook Loans is recruiting Team Leaders to oversee the daily lending and collections work of a logbook loan team. You will guide loan officers through application reviews, vehicle logbook collateral checks, customer conversations, and repayment follow-up, keeping quality and pace high. The role matters because a logbook lending team performs only as well as its leadership: strong team leaders protect the portfolio from avoidable risk, keep customers treated fairly, and turn targets into consistent results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and supervise a team of logbook loan officers, setting daily priorities and monitoring individual performance.
- Review loan applications and confirm that vehicle logbooks, borrower details, and supporting documents are genuine, complete, and correctly assessed.
- Monitor portfolio health, including disbursements, repayments, arrears, and early signs of customer difficulty.
- Manage overdue accounts and recovery activity for logbook loans, ensuring contact is lawful, respectful, and consistent with policy.
- Enforce credit policy, collateral security requirements, consumer protection standards, and data handling rules across the team.
- Support business growth by identifying repeat customers, referral sources, and practical local marketing opportunities.
- Prepare performance reports on approvals, collection rates, portfolio quality, and team productivity for management.
- Train and mentor team members on logbook product knowledge, responsible lending, negotiation, and customer service.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of logbook lending, including vehicle logbook verification, collateral valuation, loan structuring, and security documentation.
- Minimum of three years in lending, credit, or collections, with at least one year in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Experience in asset-backed, logbook, or secured lending is strongly preferred.
- Strong credit appraisal and risk assessment skills, with the ability to identify fraud, over-indebtedness, and weak collateral.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a loan portfolio, meet collection targets, and improve portfolio performance.
- Familiarity with lending regulations, consumer protection rules, and secured transactions or security perfection processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer-handling skills, including the ability to handle difficult conversations.
- Comfortable using loan management systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
- Diploma or degree in business, finance, banking, economics, or a related field; relevant professional certification is an advantage.
- A track record of developing, motivating, and retaining a high-performing team.
Why Join
- Lead a specialist logbook lending team and shape its performance culture from the front.
- Develop high-performing loan officers through hands-on coaching in credit, collections, and customer service.
- Work in a lending area where deep product knowledge and sound judgment are central to success.
