Job Description

Role Overview

This role is centred on delivering engaging French and English lessons while actively nurturing each student's moral character, creativity, and academic potential. Day to day, the teacher designs differentiated learning experiences, tracks individual progress through formative and summative assessments, and builds strong partnerships with parents and colleagues to uphold the school's distinctive ethos. The position is vital because it directly supports the school's ongoing commitment to raising well-rounded students who excel both personally and intellectually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that meet the varied learning and social needs of all students, using differentiation to set clear, attainable targets based on prior attainment.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and maintain accurate records of student work, integrating both formative and summative approaches into weekly and termly planning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student development, progress, and attainment through reports, meetings, and informal updates.
  • Uphold the school's behaviour policy by maintaining good order and discipline, and promptly report any student absences to the Principal or Deputy Principal.
  • Lead, organise, and direct support staff within the classroom to create a stimulating learning environment with accessible resources.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, curriculum planning sessions, and performance management processes to contribute to school improvement.
  • Carry out supervisory duties as assigned, including assisting with out-of-school activities and co-curricular events linked to the school curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and Directors to strengthen teamwork and uphold the agreed conditions of employment and school policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree (Education) with a focus on French and English, or French and a second subject, from a recognised university or institution.
  • Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
  • Minimum of five years' teaching experience in a recognised school setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current educational trends and issues relevant to the specialist subject areas.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.
  • Self-driven, with a willingness to inspire, challenge, motivate, and empower students to reach their full potential.
  • In-depth understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles, and a commitment to professional conduct and appropriate dress.

What We Offer / Why Join

Join a school that places continuous improvement at the heart of its mission, with a strong focus on developing each student's character and unique abilities. You will be part of a supportive professional environment that values teamwork among staff, parents, and leadership, and offers a structured performance management system to guide your own growth. This role provides the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students' lives while contributing to a school culture rooted in moral values and academic excellence.
