Role Overview

This is a classroom teaching post for a qualified educator who will deliver Biology and Chemistry across Key Stages 4 and 5 within the British International Curriculum. Day to day, the teacher prepares and delivers lessons, marks and moderates student work, and provides constructive feedback that helps learners progress toward IGCSE and A Level examinations. The role also involves collaborating with the science faculty to refine the curriculum and building a positive, ambitious classroom culture that reflects the school's commitment to 21st-century teaching.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Biology and Chemistry lessons that align with the British International Curriculum and prepare students for IGCSE and A Level assessments.
• Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative methods, maintaining accurate records and using insights to adapt lesson content and interventions.
• Create an inclusive and collaborative classroom environment where students feel supported to ask questions, explore concepts, and develop independent learning skills.
• Integrate modern teaching technologies and active learning strategies to keep lessons relevant and effective for diverse groups of learners.
• Work closely with other science teachers to share resources, review departmental schemes of work, and ensure consistency in academic standards.
• Communicate clearly and regularly with parents and guardians about student achievement, effort, and any concerns that arise during the school year.
• Lead or support at least one co-curricular activity, such as a science club, debating society, or sports team, to encourage students' broader development.
• Uphold all school policies on safeguarding, professional conduct, and record-keeping, serving as a reliable and ethical member of the teaching team.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Formal teacher training is required, evidenced by a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
• At least two years of classroom experience delivering the British International Curriculum is essential, with familiarity with IGCSE and A Level expectations.
• Candidates must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and hold a valid practising certificate.
• Applicants should demonstrate a strong understanding of modern, 21st-century pedagogical approaches, including differentiated instruction, formative assessment, and technology integration.
• The role requires a high level of professionalism, including reliability, integrity, and sound judgement when dealing with students, families, and colleagues.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills are necessary for effective teaching, collaboration, and parent engagement.
• Strong planning and organisational skills are essential, particularly in lesson preparation, resource management, and meeting curriculum deadlines.
