Job Description

Role Overview

You will join a secondary school team delivering the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum, taking ownership of a subject area and guiding learners through both lower and candidate classes. Day to day, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess progress across the full IGCSE cycle, and help students build the examination techniques and study habits they need to succeed. Your teaching has a direct impact on the school’s academic results and on each learner’s readiness for the next stage of their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver IGCSE lessons that align with the Cambridge syllabus and meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to keep learners engaged, including group work, discussion, and practical application of subject concepts.
  • Set, mark, and record assessments in line with school and Cambridge requirements, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Track individual student progress and intervene early where learners are struggling or need stretching further.
  • Prepare students for internal exams and final IGCSE examinations, including targeted revision and past-paper practice.
  • Maintain strong classroom discipline and a positive learning environment that encourages participation and mutual respect.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians about student progress, attainment, and areas for development.
  • Contribute to department meetings and whole-school activities, collaborating with colleagues to improve curriculum delivery.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree in the relevant subject area from a recognised institution.
  • Valid Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration.
  • At least one year of teaching experience within the IGCSE or Cambridge curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively while maintaining high expectations for learning.
  • A genuine commitment to learner success, with the flexibility to adapt teaching styles to different student abilities.
  • Prior experience teaching or supporting a candidate class (students in their final IGCSE examination year) is considered an added advantage.

What We Offer / Why Join

This role offers a competitive monthly salary ranging between KES 25,000 and KES 45,000, depending on your experience and qualifications. You will work within a structured academic environment where your teaching directly influences examination outcomes, giving you the chance to grow professionally as you build your track record with Cambridge programmes.
