Role Overview

As an English Editor on our editorial team, you will take manuscripts from raw draft to finished teaching resource, shaping the language, structure and accuracy of every title you handle. Your work sits at the intersection of language craft and curriculum design: you make sure each book genuinely serves learners and teachers under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework rather than simply reading well. Because our list depends on a steady pipeline of strong, compliant, publishable content, your editorial judgement and your ability to bring in new projects directly shape what we are able to put into classrooms.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread educational manuscripts to a high editorial standard, refining clarity, tone, grammar and readability without losing the author's intent.
• Verify that every title is accurate, engaging and aligned with CBE curriculum requirements, flagging gaps or mismatches before they reach production.
• Carry out content checks and fact-checking across multiple titles, and enforce consistent terminology, style and formatting throughout a series.
• Work day to day with authors, subject reviewers, designers and other publishing colleagues to move manuscripts through each stage of the process.
• Contribute to the development of quality learning materials built around competency-based outcomes, including advising on structure and assessment-friendly content.
• Identify and source suitable manuscripts, and propose innovative publishing projects that expand or refresh the list.
• Liaise with external publishers on licence printing and co-publishing arrangements, representing our editorial interests in those discussions.
• Keep the team informed of current trends, standards and best practice in educational publishing, and apply them to your own titles.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Education or a related discipline.
• At least four years' experience in book publishing, ideally within educational publishing.
• Excellent command of English, with strong editing, proofreading and fact-checking ability.
• A solid working understanding of the Competency-Based Education curriculum and what it asks of learning materials.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the discipline to deliver against tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with authors, reviewers, designers and cross-functional publishing teams.
• Awareness of current trends and best practices in educational publishing.
• Confidence engaging external publishers on licence printing and co-publishing, and an enterprising eye for new manuscript sources and project ideas.
