Tank Farm Supervisor

Role Overview

You will be at the heart of marine terminal operations, coordinating the safe and efficient movement of petroleum products from arriving vessels into storage tanks and then on to trucks. Day to day, you'll line up with vessel crews, surveyors, security teams, and loading operators to make sure every transfer runs on time, meets quality specifications, and leaves no product unaccounted for. Your vigilance directly protects the terminal from product losses, contamination incidents, and operational delays, making you essential to both the plant's safety record and its profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the complete vessel receipt process, including pipeline transfers, pump-overs, and back-loading, while verifying Notices of Intention and confirming nominated volumes before any product moves.
• Inspect and validate product quality documentation, such as load port and pre-discharge certificates, and work with independent surveyors to perform sampling and testing in line with acceptance or rejection criteria.
• Witness tank level readings at start and end of transfers, maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring any discrepancies in gains or losses are detected, investigated, and resolved promptly.
• Carry out pre-discharge risk assessments and physical integrity checks on pipelines, interceptors, valves, flanges, pumps, and tank structures to identify leaks, contamination risks, or equipment faults before they cause incidents.
• Monitor tank performance and inventory movement continuously, using calibration data and metrology records to minimize unexplained losses and support stock audits with clear, evidence-based responses to variation queries.
• Oversee product line-ups and discharge approvals, ensuring only vetted vessels are accepted and that all operations follow the Terminal Operations Manual and HSSEQ requirements from start to finish.
• Manage truck loading operations to maximize throughput, track and reduce cycle times, coordinate sealing with security personnel, and confirm that every customer receives exactly the correct quantity without overfills or shortages.
• Maintain up-to-date records for all quality certificates, calibration checks, and incident investigations, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, including terminal management, vessel representatives, and third-party inspectors.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• At least three years of hands-on experience moving petroleum products within a busy marine terminal environment.
• Solid knowledge of HSE practices and HSSEQ compliance requirements in petroleum operations.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex operational sequences, including vessel discharges and loading schedules.
• Working knowledge of product storage, movement, and terminal operations, including quality control and stock management techniques.
• Strong investigation and problem-solving skills, particularly for diagnosing abnormal tank performance, transfer losses, or equipment issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams, vendors, and external agencies.
• A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with the discipline to follow procedures and take accountability for operational outcomes.
