Role Overview
As a Supermarket Branch Manager, you will lead the daily running of a busy Nairobi store, balancing customer service and sales performance with accurate stock and cash controls. You will guide the branch team on the shop floor and make sure products are available, displays are effective, and operating standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily branch activities, maintaining clean, orderly sales areas and effective merchandising.
- Arrange product placement and promotional displays to support sales and make shopping easier for customers.
- Track sales against branch targets and put promotions into action, using customer and sales trends to inform decisions.
- Manage stock ordering, deliveries, receiving checks, replenishment, and storage, with close attention to product shelf life.
- Carry out stock checks and apply controls to reduce losses from theft, damage, and expired goods.
- Supervise, schedule, and assess cashiers, floor staff, stock handlers, and security personnel.
- Handle escalated customer complaints, payment concerns, and product returns promptly and professionally.
- Check daily cash balances, POS closing records, and petty cash, and prepare weekly reports on sales, stock movement, staffing costs, and expenses.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least two years’ experience in a supermarket or fast-paced retail environment, in a management, floor-supervision, or procurement role.
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field.
- Practical understanding of FMCG operations, supplier coordination, stock rotation, and shelf-life management.
- Comfort using POS systems, barcode-based inventory tools, and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a varied store team while maintaining accountability and service standards.
- Strong attention to inventory accuracy, cash handling, and loss prevention, along with effective communication and customer conflict-resolution skills.
- Willingness to work on-site on retail shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
What We Offer / Why Join
The position is full-time and based at a Nairobi branch on Kangundo Road or in Embakasi. Monthly remuneration is KSh 25,000–KSh 30,000.
