Role Overview
As Director of Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID), you will set the direction for CBM’s refocused global initiative and lead the team responsible for advancing inclusive community support and care, education, and livelihoods. You will connect technical quality, organisational priorities, and external partnerships so that community-based approaches deliver stronger outcomes for persons with disabilities. The position is full time and can be filled only in a country where CBM has an established permanent entity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the CBID division, setting priorities and managing its people, budgets, resources, and performance.
- Develop and put into practice a global CBID strategy and implementation framework aligned with CBM’s wider strategy.
- Guide, support, and develop a geographically dispersed team of CBID specialists and technical advisers.
- Set and maintain technical standards, guidance, and tools for inclusive community support and care, inclusive education, and inclusive livelihoods.
- Directly manage the Inclusive Education and Inclusive Livelihood advisers, and provide guidance to the Inclusive Community Support and Care team and the advocacy team lead.
- Provide strategic oversight of programme quality and establish clear concepts, methods, and approaches across the technical areas.
- Represent CBM’s CBID work in relevant global, regional, and national processes, partnerships, and alliances.
- Track developments in the sector, strengthen CBM’s profile in disability-inclusive development, and contribute to donor engagement and the development of strong funding proposals.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, international development, disability studies, social sciences, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of international development experience in management roles.
- Extensive knowledge of disability-inclusive development and community-based approaches.
- Ability to set global strategy, turn strategic goals into practical action, and bring diverse stakeholders together around shared objectives.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing multicultural teams working across locations, with a focus on collaboration, inclusion, and accountability.
- Professional proficiency in English; German, French, and/or Spanish is an advantage.
- Identification with Christian values and CBM’s mandate.
