Role Overview
This position places you at the centre of a busy fashion retail store in Nairobi CBD, where your main focus is turning every visitor into a confident buyer. You will be the first and last impression customers have of the store, so your day-to-day work involves warmly greeting shoppers, understanding what they are looking for, recommending clothing and accessories that genuinely suit them, and processing sales efficiently. Beyond serving customers, you will keep the sales floor tidy, keep displays looking fresh, and monitor stock levels so the store always looks professional and inviting. Your performance directly impacts daily revenue, repeat business, and the store's reputation as a place people trust for stylish apparel.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet every customer warmly as they enter and offer help that is attentive without being pushy, making each visit feel personal.
- Present the store's clothing and accessory collections, explaining fabric qualities, available sizes, fit guidance, and practical styling ideas.
- Ask questions to understand each shopper's style, occasion, and budget, then match them with items that genuinely meet their needs.
- Build rapport with regular customers, remember their preferences where possible, and encourage return visits through friendly, reliable service.
- Handle product enquiries, answer questions about care and sizing, and resolve any concerns professionally before and after the sale.
- Process purchases accurately through the till, handle cash and card payments, and issue receipts while maintaining a smooth checkout experience.
- Keep the showroom clean and organised at all times, including fitting rooms, display racks, and shelves, while ensuring all items are correctly priced and in good condition.
- Help with seasonal promotions and visual displays, restock fast-moving items quickly, and report low inventory levels or missing sizes to management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Hold a Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality, or a closely related field.
- Have at least one year of hands-on experience in retail sales, customer service, or as a fashion attendant in a physical store environment.
- Maintain a smart, well-groomed and fashion-conscious appearance that reflects the standards of a modern retail clothing brand.
- Speak and write English and Kiswahili fluently, with the confidence to engage customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Be available to work flexible retail hours between 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM, and to complete a one-month probation period successfully.
- Show strong interpersonal skills, a patient and courteous manner, and the ability to stay calm when the store gets busy.
