Ultrasound Technician / Sonographer
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Ultrasound Technician to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure patient safety, maintain accurate records, and support quality improvement initiatives within the radiology department.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct effective ultrasound procedures within the approved policies and procedures.
- Ensure adequate and correct information is given to patients regarding procedures.
- Ensure safety of patients and machines through adequate preparation of patients.
- Monitor patients’ conditions throughout the procedure.
- Ensure proper and accurate records of procedure volumes, environment, and downtime.
- Ensure timely availability of images to facilitate timely reporting and dispatch of reports.
- Document and report all faults on the machines to the recommended authorities.
- Oversee maintenance services and ensure that machines are handed over in good working condition after service.
- Participate in preparation and implementation of quality initiatives aimed at improving overall departmental services.
- Provide period reports as and when required.
- Report images promptly.
- Ensure that all images are available in PACS.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Higher Diploma in Medical Imaging Science.
- Degree or Diploma in Medical Imaging Science.
- Valid registration with the Society of Radiography – Kenya (SORK).
- License with the Radiation Protection Board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in a busy and established Radiology department.
