  • Operate and monitor specialized STP equipment, including submersible pumps, blowers, clarifiers, and aeration tanks.

  • Manage the function of sludge digesters and chemical dosing units to maintain optimal treatment efficiency.

  • Conduct regular sampling at various stages of the treatment cycle to analyze water quality.

  • Monitor and adjust critical parameters such as pH, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), and TSS (Total Suspended Solids) to remain within regulatory discharge norms.

Maintenance & Chemical Management

  • Execute routine preventive maintenance schedules for all STP machinery to minimize downtime.

  • Identify equipment malfunctions and coordinate with the maintenance team for prompt repairs.

  • Oversee the inventory and application of treatment chemicals, including coagulants, flocculants, and disinfectants.

  • Optimize chemical dosing ratios to achieve cost-effectiveness without compromising the quality of the treated effluent.

Safety, Compliance & Reporting

  • Adhere strictly to environmental laws and guidelines as prescribed by national pollution control boards and environmental management authorities.

  • Maintain comprehensive daily logs of plant operations, chemical consumption, and maintenance activities.

  • Implement spill response protocols and emergency procedures to safeguard the institution's environment.

  • Produce weekly and monthly reports on plant performance, water usage optimization, and regulatory compliance.

  • Alternative: Diploma holders with significant, high-level hands-on experience in wastewater treatment will be considered.

  • Experience: 2–4 years of direct experience in STP operations.

  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of wastewater treatment technologies and biological/chemical treatment processes.

Technical & Behavioral Skills

  • Analytical Ability: Proficient in interpreting lab results and translating data into process adjustments.

  • Record-Keeping: Highly organized with a focus on accurate data logging and technical reporting.

  • Resilience: Ability to handle the physical demands of plant operations and respond effectively to emergencies.

  • Compliance Mindset: Strong commitment to environmental safety and occupational health standards.

  • Stable Work Environment: Located within a reputable educational institution in Rongai.

  • Professional Impact: Play a critical role in the institution’s environmental sustainability and waste management strategy.
