Role Overview
As a Senior Relationship Officer – Bancassurance, you will sit at the point where the bank's customer relationships and its insurance proposition meet, owning the acquisition and growth of sustainable bancassurance and bank business across retail life, pensions and non-life lines. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will work side by side with branch teams in your cluster, profiling customers, uncovering their protection and savings needs, matching them to the right covers and seeing placements through to completion. The role matters because it turns everyday banking conversations into long-term insurance relationships, generating recurring income for the intermediary and the bank while giving customers cover they might otherwise never have arranged.
Key Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of the assigned cluster's insurance portfolio across risk and investment lines, driving new business acquisition and growing existing business until income and revenue targets are met branch by branch.
- Embed insurance into the branches' daily rhythm by attending branch and cluster meetings, agreeing referral targets with branch teams, building a live pipeline and cross-selling to the bank's existing customer base.
- Build and maintain a strong working relationship with cluster Branch Managers so that bancassurance receives visible, value-adding support across every branch in the territory.
- Coach and continuously train branch staff on the insurance products, onboarding paperwork and claims processes, so that colleagues can confidently raise awareness and generate uptake among their own customers.
- Mentor a Bancassurance Champion in each branch to spearhead insurance activity locally and act as the first point of contact for product queries.
- Safeguard documentation quality by confirming customers have completed all required forms accurately and that paperwork moves smoothly and on time between client, branch and insurer.
- Carry out financial needs analysis for high-net-worth clients to identify both financial and non-financial requirements, and run the minimum weekly and monthly client visits and engagement forums.
- Improve the customer experience by acting on feedback, resolving queries and complaints proactively to reduce attrition, and working towards the agreed CSAT, Customer Effort, Customer Engagement and Net Promoter targets.
- Monitor competitor activity, local market trends and consumer behaviour, feeding insights back to inform product customisation, new product development and clear direction for the branch network.
- Produce accurate weekly and monthly production reports for management, and adhere to the bank's AML/CFT requirements, risk controls, sanctions screening and internal policies, escalating any suspicious activity to the compliance function immediately.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Two to three years' experience in insurance sales management within an insurance company or bancassurance environment, of which at least one year must be hands-on sales experience.
- Diploma in Insurance, a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance, a BCom with an Insurance option, or a BSc in Actuarial Science.
- Solid working knowledge of the compliance and regulatory frameworks governing bancassurance, insurance and banking.
- Proven ability to conduct financial needs analysis and advise high-net-worth clients on suitable solutions.
- Strong command of MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint, together with sound business acumen and clear, accurate report writing.
- Excellent interpersonal, business communication and presentation skills, with a polished, professional presence in front of clients and branch teams.
- Confident decision-making and problem-solving ability, coupled with a self-driven, highly motivated and disciplined approach to managing your own territory.
