Role Overview
This Senior Broker role is centred on growing the firm's insurance and risk management portfolio by actively acquiring new corporate clients and deepening existing relationships. Day to day, the broker identifies promising market segments, pitches tailored insurance solutions, and negotiates terms with insurers to secure profitable policies. The position directly contributes to the company's revenue targets and market presence, making it a key driver of long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and close new business opportunities to meet or exceed set monthly and annual revenue goals.
- Maintain a robust sales pipeline by qualifying leads at every stage of the sales cycle and advancing deals systematically.
- Conduct thorough client needs assessments and design insurance programmes that address each client's unique risk profile and budget.
- Build and sustain long-term client relationships through proactive communication, policy renewals, and responsive service to maximise retention.
- Negotiate competitive premiums, coverage terms, and service levels with insurers to deliver value while protecting profitability.
- Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities across the firm's full suite of insurance and advisory products.
- Track market trends, competitor activity, and emerging risks to inform business development strategy and product positioning.
- Prepare accurate sales reports, update client records in the CRM, and ensure all activities comply with the Insurance Act and IRA regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, Finance, or a related field.
- Diploma in Insurance (AIIK) or ACII qualification; IRA Certificate of Proficiency is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in business development, corporate sales, or insurance brokerage, with a proven track record of hitting revenue targets.
- Deep understanding of insurance products, risk management fundamentals, and Kenyan insurance market regulations.
- Hands-on proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, forecasting, and pipeline management.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both clients and insurer partners.
- Experience managing corporate client portfolios and delivering consultative, tailored risk solutions.
